Welcome to Engagi Lodge which is among the Luxury accommodation found in the Northern sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. It is 5 minutes walk from the park head quarters and hence suitable accommodation for those tracking gorilla families in the north of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Engagi refers to gorilla in Rukiga.

Gorilla families that can be trekked from Engagi lodge includes Mubare Group, Rushegura Group, Habinyanja Group and then with the early morning drive transfer to Ruhija where you can trek the Oruzongo, Kyaguliro and Bitukura group.

The lodge comprises of 8 Cottages/cabins with great views of the Bwindi Impenetrable national Park. Each cottage has a verandah where you can relax if you don’t feel like going to the restaurant. All rooms are self contained with en suite bathrooms to offer you that extra privacy and luxury. Each cottage is spaced and has a unique location.

The lodge has been constructed using a local workforce and local materials. All of the staff have been employed from the surrounding areas and have been trained on site.

The restaurant area is wide enough overlooking the impenetrable forest offering you that relaxing mood while enjoying your meal or drink. The restaurant has also got enough space to cater for big groups and still has that privacy for small groups.

The lodge attaches to the principles of ecotourism and responsible travel as it was built using local materials such as banana fibers, Bwindi eucalyptus trees, grass and others. It has trails that lead to each cottage and hence less impact on the surrounding environment. The lodge uses solar energy which decreases on the emission of green house gases. The lodge strives to employ the members of the local community hence contributing to local community development.

Besides gorilla trekking, guests can participate in a number of activities while at Engagi Lodge. You can go for the popular Buhoma Village walk, the Batwa Experience and forest walks with in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
